LANVITO manufactures oilfield and specialty chemicals alongside automotive lubricants. This page supports transmission fluid enquiries from lubricant brands, importers, distributors and bulk buyers. Begin with the transmission design and required performance, then define the formulation and packaging brief.
Identify the Transmission
State whether the project concerns a conventional stepped automatic, a continuously variable transmission or a dual-clutch transmission.
Define the Required Evidence
Provide the application requirements and request supporting information for the exact proposed formulation.
Plan the Product Range
Specify the destination market, packaging formats and quantity per product for a manufacturing review.
Explore Transmission Fluid Manufacturing Options
Choose an application to start your project. The options below describe enquiry directions; exact grades, specifications, supporting documents and availability are confirmed during technical review.
CONVENTIONAL STEPPED AUTOMATICS
Automatic Transmission Fluids
Discuss ATF formulations for the intended automatic transmission application, including the required friction behavior, viscosity and durability evidence.
Provide: Transmission requirements and target market.
Request: Proposed grade, TDS and application evidence.
CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSIONS
CVT Fluids
Discuss CVT transmission fluid requirements for the specific transmission design. Include belt or chain system information where applicable and the required performance specification.
Provide: CVT design and required specification.
Request: Formulation review and technical documents.
DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSMISSIONS
DCT Fluids
Discuss dual clutch transmission fluid requirements. Identify wet- or dry-clutch design and the lubrication circuit that the proposed fluid will serve.
Provide: Transmission architecture and fluid circuit.
Request: Application-specific formulation assessment.
ATF, CVT and DCT Fluids: What Buyers Need to Know
| Fluid direction | Application distinction | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| ATF for stepped automatics | Typically serves hydraulic, lubrication and friction-control functions in conventional automatic transmissions. | The exact transmission requirements and supporting performance evidence. |
| CVT fluid | Belt- or chain-type CVTs place particular demands on contact friction and wear control. | The transmission design and the relevant formulation suitability. |
| DCT fluid | Requirements depend on the clutch design and arrangement of lubrication circuits. | Wet/dry design, circuit requirements and applicable friction performance. |
Similar names, colours or viscosity values do not establish interchangeability. Review suitability for the particular transmission and formulation. A broad application claim requires evidence for the applications it covers.
Technical background: STLE transmission fluid functions and friction requirements.
Where Do Manual Transmission Fluids Fit?
Manual transmission requirements differ by design. For manual transmission gear oil enquiries, visit our Automotive Lubricants overview, or include the exact application in your project brief. This is not a claim that every manual transmission uses the same type of gear oil.
How to Specify the Right Transmission Fluid
Application Before Colour
Colour can help describe appearance, but does not establish the performance specification, compatibility or approval status of a fluid.
Viscosity Is One Requirement
Compare viscosity data with the complete application requirements. A lower viscosity is not automatically an improvement or a suitable replacement.
Evidence Before Label Claims
Request documentation for the actual proposed formulation. Private label manufacturing does not itself establish approval by a vehicle manufacturer.
What Does Multi-Vehicle Mean?
Treat a multi-vehicle claim as a defined application coverage statement. Ask which applications are covered, what evidence supports the claim and what exclusions apply. Do not interpret it as universal suitability for all ATF, CVT and DCT systems.
Friction Performance Is Part of the Specification
Transmission fluids must deliver the friction behavior required by the transmission components. Where relevant, review friction durability and anti-shudder performance separately from basic viscosity data.
Background: STLE wet friction materials. General technical guidance is not evidence of LANVITO grade performance.
How to Read a Transmission Fluid Technical Data Sheet
Use the TDS to understand a proposed product, then confirm the specification and evidence needed for the intended application. Typical values and purchase acceptance limits are different.
| Data / document | What it helps assess | What else to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Kinematic viscosity at 40°C and 100°C | Viscosity at the specified measurement temperatures. | Complete application and performance requirements. |
| Viscosity index | How viscosity changes with temperature. | Not an overall quality rating. |
| Low-temperature viscosity / pour point | Measured low-temperature properties under the stated methods. | Pour point alone does not establish suitability for a transmission. |
| Flash point | A test result relevant to product characterization and handling. | It is not the maximum safe transmission operating temperature. |
| Friction and durability evidence | Application-relevant behavior and its durability. | The actual formulation, test method and scope covered. |
| Compatibility evidence | Relevant material, seal or component compatibility. | The tested materials and applicability to the intended system. |
| TDS, SDS and batch documents | Product data, handling information and batch traceability. | Document versions, agreed limits and what is provided with each order. |
Packaging formats and availability are confirmed for the project.

What Affects Transmission Fluid Price?
The quotation depends on the agreed formulation, performance requirements, quantity, packaging and delivery scope. Compare offers on the same basis, including whether prices are per litre, kilogram or package.
Request the proposed MOQ, sample arrangements, technical documents and lead time for your project. Confirm what packaging, artwork and delivery work is included.
01 · Submit the Brief
Share application requirements, packaging and anticipated quantities.
02 · Review the Proposal
Agree the proposed formulation, supporting documents, sample arrangements and commercial scope.
03 · Confirm the Order
Approve the specification, artwork, quantities and delivery terms before production scheduling.
Transmission Fluid Manufacturing FAQs
Yes. Select the application and share its requirements. LANVITO will review the proposed formulation and supply scope; exact grade availability requires confirmation.
Do not assume interchangeability. Confirm suitability against the transmission requirements and supporting evidence for the exact formulation.
No. Colour does not establish performance, approval or compatibility. Use the documented product specification and application requirements.
No universal coverage should be assumed. Review the supported applications, evidence and exclusions for the proposed product.
It refers to discussing production to an agreed business brief, including private label requirements. It does not imply vehicle-manufacturer approval or original-equipment factory-fill status.
